After some critique here and elsewhere, I have revised the first five pages of my novel. I love the suggestions. Arriving in Haiti
Our plane was small. But so was the runway in Cap Haiten, Haiti. We were informed upon the start of our descent that we did indeed have enough room to stop (unlike the rumors that had been circulating prior to departure) but it would be a rapid stop. We needed to hold onto all of our belongings. And, by the way, someone was welcome to sit in the "jump seat" between the pilots for landing. Yeah, no thanks. Haiti-The Departure
I woke Wednesday February 10, 2010 with my heart in my throat, stomach in my mouth. I had to eat, but couldn't; nothing would stay down and I knew it. Was it the Malarone (anti-malarial drug) making me ill? Yes, I told myself. I was not afraid, for fear is not something I know. In the words of Simba from the Lion King, "I laugh in the face of danger!" Yeah, if only my body would follow my mind.

A week in Haiti
On Friday February 6, 2010, I was invited to spend a week in Haiti caring for those injured in the earthquake. Within minutes, my friends and family rallied support. The whirlwind planning began. I was scheduled to leave February 10, 2010 and return on the 17th. THAT was the only fact I knew for sure.
