Do you believe communication with the dead is possible? Have you ever felt the presence of someone who was not physically present?

In honor of the 160 year anniversary of the spiritualist movement, and to celebrate launching two books with spiritualist undertones, we’re hosting a paranormal YA double header! I’m calling this our “Do You See Dead People, too?” paranormal mystery giveaway!

In order to participate, just leave a comment answering at least one of the following questions:

  • Do you believe that communication with the dead is possible? Have you ever felt the presence of someone who was not physically present?
  • +1 if you tweet about the contest, linking back to either to the blog that refered you or to this contest page…

Only the comments left on this page will be counted. Winners will be selected at random, but you must answer at least one of the questions. Feel free to specify which book you'd like (in case you win!). Otherwise, I’ll pick. Both are fantastic!

I can’t wait to read what you think!

I feel the presence of my dead sister on almost a daily basis. It's like a guardian angel watching over me - I can hear her laugh and her sarcastic comments. I truly believe the dead are all around us
I'm so insanely excited for We Hear the Dead! Even has a discussion with someone about it on twitter today.

But I do feel the presence of the dead. I had a lot of family members die when I was younger and even remember once instance when my parents and sister were at a funeral and my brother was babysitting me when there was a knock on the door but nobody was there. The way our house was set up, it would've been impossible to get away that quickly and besides that, everyone knew that wasn't the door we actually used. I do think that communication is possible through little miracles and oddities. We can talk and they always hear us, and sometimes they choose to respond.
I haven't felt the presence of someone who has died but I have heard my dead dog snoring and running around the house.
I completely believe that you can communicate with the dead. I feel that my grandparents and a friend are constantly with me and watching over me. And I do talk to them:) I tweeted http://twitter.com/bangersis/status/11455737698
Yes!! I believe both are true!! In other words-I believe in ghosts!!
Ooh Dianne. Awesome you're doing this. I retweeted already here: http://twitter.com/SherWordsGirl. I'll tweet again, too. It's fun. And yes, I not only believe one can feel/sense another presence, not only write about it, I have felt it. Kind of freaky, but in an amazing way. When I was eight, my best friend who was a boy, was hit by a car--my uncle's car--and died. It sucked all the way around. It wasn't my uncle's fault. The boy ran out into the road after a ball, giving my uncle no chance to stop. Anyway, this boy came to me telling me he was just fine. Later on, in my early thirties--just a few years ago, I thought I'd add that--he came to me in a prayer. I swear. It was amazing and like he was encouraging me to head out on my new adventure. ";-)
I do believe that people can communicate with the dead. I have had a couple of small experiences and my mom has had others. I dont think its nearly as scary as people think.
I just had someone pass away 03/27/10 that I was very close with. The day I found him that night I felt like my room was full of people, not just one. I had this terrifying feeling in my bedroom. This feeling lasted three days..and only in my bedroom? The second night I slept on the couch the feeling was so over whelming. That Wednesday (03/31/10) Weird things happened day..my computer turned off then on, I have a TV in my office that turned off twice. My daughter’s phone called me about the same time, I didn’t think anything about that at that time but later I will explain the significance (I thought it was just a butt call). After work I drove to pick my daughter up and for some reason I went thru some old CD’s that I haven’t listen to in a year…the one I put in had a song on it that he use to sing to me…it made me cry…as I arrived to pick up my daughter she was sitting in the front seat of my car. Her phone was lying on her lap. My phone rung again, it was her. She didn’t sit on it; it was just lying on her lap? I truly believe he was saying goodbye that whole day..and to top it off the feeling of being scared went away. Maybe I was feeling what he was at that time. That night I swear he was with me the whole night, lying next to me. I guess he is where he is supposed to be now.
I do think that there are spirits out there that do watch over us or our kids. Yes I do think that its possible to talk with them too.
Absolutely I believe we can communicate with the dead and that they do with us. As a child I remember seeing my Great Grandmother numerous times walking to my bedroom...we were very close before her death and I think she was there watching over me.

Tweeted about it: http://twitter.com/the1stdaughter/status/11803128158
Absolutely yes! And I've had personal experiences that were highly suggestive of genuine contact/communication. For example - on the early morning of my dad's funeral, I had a vivid dream in which he appeared telling me to tell everyone that he would be there attending his own funeral, but that no one would recognize him! Furthermore, my deceased mother who had passed away decades before, was present in the same dream, sitting quietly waiting for dad to deliver his message to me. I 'felt' that she had been there to meet him when he passed 'over', and was there to accompany him onward into the afterlife.

Thanks for such a super giveaway - I'd love to read "We Hear The Dead"
For years, I've been blessed and cursed with the gift of seeing, hearing and feeling ghosts. Sometimes it gets too much. And I try to shut my eyes close so I won't see 'them.' Considering the fact that my country has been the ground of war ande death for many years, it's highly possible that there will be ghosts here because of the amount of blood and violence spilled. I believe that communication with the dead is possible, partly because spirits are like us too. They have emotions, they think, they talk. The only difference is that they don't have a physical body. But I've never tried answering back to them. That would be too terrifying for me. There was one instance when my grandmother died. I was left alone in the room, everyone was in the living room. The door slammed shut and the wind blew so hard. The weird thing was, the windows and the door were closed. So basically, the wind couldn't possibly be coming from outside. There was a soft whispering in the background. And then I smelled my grandmother's perfume. I was sure that it was her.
